                                     Romans 9:21-23

Sparkle of blue
             in wasteland of gray:
simple forgotten pot

                         Red terracotta wrapped in sapphire glaze 

                         Potter’s etched ridges now smeared in ash

lumpish
unassuming
reliable
ordinary 

Created for use but not honor                         

                                       – much like us –
Testimony to God’s purposes:

                   be hardened in the first fire

                                 bring glory in the second
